Bellingham Castle is one of Ireland’s most enchanting venues—a jewel in the Castles of Ireland collection, and it was the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable luxury wedding. Getting Ready at the Castle

From the start, the atmosphere was full of thoughtful, personal touches. The couple got ready on the castle grounds, an experience that felt like stepping into a fairytale. The bride wore a breathtaking sheer bridal gown to get ready in, with layers of dramatic ruffles. It was affectionately named “Molly”, and it really did make her feel like a queen on her wedding morning. We made sure to carve out five dedicated minutes before final prep, to create editorial-style portraits in this gown on the front steps of the castle. You’ll agree, it was worth getting out to those castle steps.

If you’re planning a wedding with a special outfit like this, I can’t recommend enough that you schedule time specifically to photograph it properly. You can even share a vision board with me your photographer ahead of time. Pieces like this deserve a moment in the timeline, because you’ll never forget how you felt wearing something so special. For this couple, those editorial images were a highlight of the day and a testament to the planning that goes into truly personal, luxury weddings.

Inside, the groom got ready in the castle’s library, tying his bow tie and buttoning his ivory dinner jacket in front of classic wood-panelled walls. He received a set of beautiful handwritten letters from the bride, each dated backwards in time—one marked to read first on the wedding morning. It was so heartfelt and personal. She received a luxurious Jo Malone perfume from him to wear on the day, adding another layer of sensory memory.

The invitations featured personalised illustrations of the castle and elegant engraved wax seal stamps, setting the tone for a luxury wedding from the start. Throughout the day, there were sweet nods to Disney—her dad works for them, so she truly was the princess of the day.

“In the evening, we snuck away for some editorial flash photos that felt like pure fun and glamour. I had my champagne, he had his whiskey, and we posed in front of these incredible old paintings and sprawled across that deep red leather couch in the castle library. We even wore the sunglasses we’d picked out just for the day—laughing, sipping, and soaking up that rockstar newlywed energy. It was playful, stylish, and the perfect way to end our celebration in true “us” fashion.”

Intimate First Look and Private Vows

They did things their own way with a private first look on the grounds. Then they read their vows privately to each other just around the corner of the castle, with no one else listening. These moments are so special to capture because they’re real, unscripted, and genuinely meaningful.

Romantic Ceremony and Garden Drinks

The ceremony itself was filled with lush florals in soft pastel tones. They included a hand-fasting ritual and lit candles on a grand candelabra to remember loved ones. Afterward, everyone enjoyed appetisers and drinks on the lawn while children chased bubbles in the afternoon sun—a relaxed, joyful scene.

Cake Cutting and Editorial Evening Portraits

Dinner and speeches followed before the cake was cut under a rose-draped trellis in the garden. Later, we captured editorial wedding photography using flash inside the castle. Champagne, whiskey, the grand library furniture—it all added a moody, stylish vibe. They laughed while lying back on the sofa or perched dramatically on it, playing with the artwork and rich textures of the castle interior.

High-Energy Party to Finish

Finally, the couple had their first dance and the party kicked off with flashing LED rings and batons on the dance floor. It was lively, fun, and the perfect finish to an unforgettable day.
