Timeless Wedding, Elopement & Family Film Photography

Why Choose 35mm Film Photography?
In a world where everything moves quickly, there’s something beautifully intentional about slowing down. As an analog 35mm film photographer in Northern Ireland, I offer couples and families the opportunity to add timeless film photography to any of my digital photography collections. Whether you’re planning a luxury wedding, an intimate elopement, a romantic couples session or a relaxed family photoshoot, 35mm film adds a nostalgic layer to your story that simply can’t be replicated.
Film isn’t about replacing digital photography—it’s about complementing it. Throughout your day, I photograph primarily with professional digital cameras to ensure every important moment is captured. Alongside this, I’ll carry my 35mm film cameras, thoughtfully choosing the moments that deserve to be preserved on film. Rather than photographing everything, film encourages intention. Every frame is carefully considered, creating a collection of beautifully imperfect, authentic memories.
Film Comeback
There is a reason film photography has made such a wonderful comeback.
Couples are increasingly drawn to the soft colours, subtle grain, rich tones and nostalgic feeling that only analog film can create. Film has a warmth and authenticity that’s difficult to recreate digitally. The slight imperfections become part of the story, making every image feel honest, emotional and full of character.
Unlike digital photography, where I may capture several frames in quick succession to ensure I never miss a fleeting moment, every frame on film is chosen carefully. I pause, observe and wait for the right moment before pressing the shutter.
This slower pace naturally creates photographs that feel calm, intentional and deeply meaningful.
Whether it’s your grandmother wiping away a tear during your ceremony, your partner smiling at you across the dinner table, children running barefoot through the grass, or the quiet moments just after saying your vows, these are often the memories I choose to preserve on film.

Film Photography for Weddings, Elopements & Families
You can add 35mm film photography to any of my collections across Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Popular sessions include:
- Luxury wedding photography
- Elopements along the Causeway Coast
- Vow renewals
- Engagement and couples sessions
- Family photography
- Anniversary sessions
Each roll of 35mm film contains approximately 28–36 carefully captured photographs. Most couples choose between one and three rolls depending on how much film they’d love included throughout their day.
One roll may beautifully capture your morning preparations, while additional rolls can document your ceremony, portraits, speeches or those quiet in-between moments that often become your favourites.

A Beautiful Blend of Digital and Film
One of the biggest advantages of choosing both digital and film photography is that you receive the best of both worlds.
Digital photography allows me to react quickly as your day unfolds. Weddings and family sessions are wonderfully unpredictable, and digital ensures I never miss those fleeting moments, fast-moving laughter or emotional embraces.
Film, however, invites everyone to slow down.
When I lift my film camera, I’m making a deliberate choice. I’m selecting moments that deserve to be preserved with care—the gentle movement of your veil, champagne shared in the sunshine, quiet portraits beneath ancient trees, or windswept walks along the Northern Ireland coastline.
These slower moments often become some of the most treasured photographs in your gallery.
Developed with Care
After your wedding or photoshoot, your film is professionally developed at a specialist laboratory in mainland UK before being carefully scanned into high-resolution digital files. I usually request the developer to keep the original black border on when they scan, it’s from the film roll inside the camera, so you can see the full image (traditionally this was cropped before you got your film photos back in 1990s). It’s difficult to find a place that does this, and I can always crop/straighten the images after, or you can do this when ordering prints as standard from your gallery. I think it makes them stand out, and keeps them recognisable as 35mm film.
Because every roll is processed by hand, film takes a little longer to arrive than your digital gallery. I truly believe it’s worth the wait.
Once your scans are returned, I’ll carefully curate them alongside your digital photographs, creating one seamless gallery that beautifully tells the story of your day. Your film images can then be printed, framed, or included within your wedding album alongside your digital photographs.
